When do I get paid? +
Within 30 days of your friend making their first fee payment to Cokonet. Payment is via direct bank transfer (NEFT/IMPS) to the account in your registered name. We notify you on WhatsApp the moment the transfer goes through. If 30 days pass without payment, ping us on WhatsApp and we'll trace it within 48 hours.
What counts as a "successful referral"? +
A referral becomes successful when your friend completes their first fee payment to Cokonet (typically the enrolment instalment). Free trial signups, brochure downloads, or counselling calls don't count. If your friend pays in EMI, the reward releases on the first paid instalment, not the last.
What if my friend asks for a refund? +
If your friend cancels and gets a refund within Cokonet's standard refund window (typically 7 days from enrolment), the referral reward is reversed. We'll notify you on WhatsApp before any reversal happens, and the deduction comes from your next payout, not from your bank account directly. Beyond the refund window, your reward is final, even if they later drop out of the programme.
Is TDS deducted on referral rewards? +
Below Rs 15,000 in a financial year: no TDS. Above Rs 15,000: TDS at applicable rates under Section 194R of the IT Act (typically 10%) is deducted before payout. We provide Form 16A quarterly so you can claim it during your tax filing. Most one-off referrers stay below the threshold; the heavy referrers do file it.
Is there a cap on how many friends I can refer? +
No cap. Refer as many as you'd like. We've had referrers cross Rs 25,000 in a year and one referrer hit Rs 28,000. The only constraint is that referrals must be people who would genuinely benefit from the programme (we don't pay out for spam or names you've copied from a list). The counsellor's call usually filters this out naturally.
Can I refer myself, or refer someone in my own family? +
No self-referrals, the system catches matching name, mobile, or bank details. Family is fine, including spouse, siblings, parents, cousins (we've had several siblings refer each other). The only constraint is that the family member must not have been already in our system as a lead, contact, or counselled prospect within the last 90 days, otherwise the referral doesn't count.
My friend already has a Cokonet scholarship offer. Can they still get the referral discount? +
Scholarships and the referral discount are stackable up to a programme-specific cap. For most programmes, the cap is 50% of the listed fee. If your friend's scholarship already takes them past that cap, the referral discount cannot be added on top, but you (the referrer) still receive your reward in full. Best to confirm with the counsellor at the time of enrolment.
How do I track my referral status? +
We send a WhatsApp update at every key stage: when your friend is contacted, when they complete counselling, when they enrol, and when your reward is paid. No portal logins or dashboards to check. If you want to see your full history at any point, WhatsApp the word "status" to the referrals team and they'll send a summary within an hour.
